Each time a page on your Internet site doesn't load, an error message shall be shown to the visitor. Because there are different errors, there are different pages that'll appear, but what is standard for all of them is that they are generic and almost certainly shall have practically nothing that is similar to the layout of your Internet site, which could be frustrating for any site visitor. That is the primary reason why hosting companies have introduced a function referred to as Custom Error Pages. For a variety of different errors, site visitors shall see your custom content, which can be informative or amusing, depending on your choice, and that will match the overall layout of your Internet site, so the pages will not seem like they're not part of your website at all. You may use this option for numerous errors - 400 (Bad request), 401 (Unauthorized), 403 (Forbidden) and 404 (File not Found).

Custom Error Pages in Hosting

The customized error pages feature is available with every hosting package which we offer and you will be able to swap all of the generic pages with your own with no more than a few clicks inside your Hepsia hosting Control Panel. You'll need to develop the actual files and to upload them to your account, and then to set them for a given domain or subdomain using the Hosted Domains section of the Hepsia Control Panel. You can do this for each and every web site hosted inside the account independently, so that every set of customized pages will have identical design as the site it is part of. If necessary, you may always go back to a default page from our system or to a default Apache server page. Another way to set custom made error pages is to create an .htaccess file inside the domain/subdomain root folder and to include a few lines in it. If you have not done this before, you may simply copy the required code from our Help article on the subject.

Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Servers

All of the semi-dedicated hosting plans that we supply support personalized error pages and it will not take more than a few mouse clicks from your Hepsia hosting Control Panel to use this feature. The option is included in the Hosted Domains section of your Control Panel in which you'll have to input the links to the custom-made files using very simple drop-down menus and an easy to use interface. Needless to say, you must upload them to your account before that. In case you don't need to use this function at some point, you can disable it just as quickly and choose an Apache server page or a default page from our system to be shown if your visitors encounter an error. If you'd like to, you could also use an .htaccess file to enable the custom made error pages. The file needs to contain a specific line of code and a link for every error type and you may find an example of the entire content for all four error types in our Help section.
