Whenever you add a domain name as hosted in some account, you usually set a pair of Name Servers to point it to that particular service provider. On their end, 3 records are created automatically right after the domain name is added - one A record and two MX records. The first one is a numeric address, or IP address, which “tells” the domain name where its website is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they indicate the server that deals with the emails for that specific Internet domain. The website and the e-mail hosting are usually considered to be one thing, while they're actually two different services. Having independent records for them will allow you to have them with different providers if you wish. As an example, some new service provider can have fantastic uptime for your website, but you might not want to switch your e-mails from your current host and by employing an A record to point the domain name to the former and MX records to have the e-mails with the latter, you could get the best of both companies. These records are checked when you want to open a website or send an e-mail - in either case, the company whose name servers are used for the domain name is going to be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you've set records different from their own, the correct web/mail server will then be contacted and you'll see the needed site or your e-mail is going to be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, that comes with each and every hosting plan that we offer, allows you to view, change and set up A and MX records for each domain name or subdomain in your account. From the DNS Records section, you'll be able to see a list of all hosts within the account in alphabetical order with their related records, so any update won't take you more than a few clicks. Creating new records is equally simple if, for instance, you would like to use the email services of a different provider and they ask you to create more MX records than the default two. Also you can set the priority for each MX record by setting different latency. To put it differently, when your e-mails are delivered, the sending server will contact the record with the smallest latency first and in case the connection times out, it's going to contact the next one. Through our state-of-the-art tool, you are going to be able to handle the records of your domains and subdomains easily even when you have no previous experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, included with our semi-dedicated hosting plans, will allow you to view the A and MX records for any of the domain addresses or subdomains in your account and if required, to update any of them or create new ones. Controlling these records is incredibly easy because all domains/subdomains are going to be listed alphabetically, so modifying a record is as simple as entering it in a box and saving the change. Creating a new one takes just a couple of more clicks and in case you experience any issues, you can check out our educational videos on how to create A and MX records. Our system is intuitive enough to be used by people with no previous experience, yet sophisticated enough to give you complete control of all records and to allow you to have different A records even for domain.com and www.domain.com. If you're switching your e-mails to a different service provider and they ask you to set up more than 2 different MX records, you may choose the priority of each one.
