SPF, which is short for Sender Policy Framework, is an e-mail protection system, that is designed to confirm if an email message is sent by a certified server. Using SPF protection for a given domain name will stop the faking of emails made with the domain. In layman's terms: activating this attribute for a domain makes a special record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which includes the IP of the servers that are allowed to send e-mail messages from mail boxes under the domain. The moment this record propagates globally, it will exist on all the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. When some email message is sent, the initial DNS server it uses tests whether it comes from an accredited server. In the event it does, it is forwarded to the destination address, however if it doesn't originate from a server indexed in the SPF record for the domain, it is rejected. Thus nobody will mask an email address then make it look as if you are e-mailing spam. This technique is also referred to as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Hosting

You'll be able to activate the SPF protection option for your domains with only a few clicks inside the Hepsia Control Panel, which is included in all our hosting plans. This is done from the section bearing the same name and you'll be able to allow the protection for each and every domain part of our state-of-the-art cloud platform. Using a very time and effort saving interface, all you need to type in is the hostname of the mail server that will be approved to send messages from your e-mails and its IPv4 or IPv6 address. Of course, you are able to include several servers too, when needed. When your e-mail addresses are handled by us, you can also employ an even more secure option by placing a restriction that e-mail messages can be sent only when your domain names include our MX records. This option cannot be applied if your web site is hosted with us, and the emails are with a third-party provider. Either way, the SPF protection option will vastly enhance your web safety and stop others from counterfeiting your email addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The SPF protection attribute comes with all the semi-dedicated hosting plans, so in case you host your domain names in an account on our cloud hosting platform, you will be able to use this service effortlessly for all of your domains. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts, has a really user-friendly interface, which means that you do not have to be tech-savvy to secure your e-mails. You'll only need to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you'd like to be certified to send e-mails from your addresses and shortly after that the new record will be activated for the domain that you've chosen. As an extra option, we also allow you to limit the outgoing emails and protect your mailboxes further by permitting messages to be sent only if the domain in question features our MX records i.e. the e-mail messages for the domain name have to be taken care of by us and not by some other provider. By doing this you will have even better control and there won't be any chances for somebody to forge your email addresses for malicious uses.
